Version 6.0 of the free operating system OpenBSD has been released. It features improved hardware and armv7 support, a new tool (proot) for building software ports in an isolated chroot environment, W^X that is now strictly enforced by default, and removal of official support for Linux emulation, usermount, and systrace.

OpenBSD 5.7 was released on May 1, 2015. There are some big changes From previous versions: for instance the nginx httpd server was removed in favor of an internally developed httpd server, BIND (named) was retired in favor of nsd and unbound.

10.1 version of FreeBSD

Version 10.1 of the FreeBSD operating system has been released. The new version of FreeBSD offers support for booting from UEFI, automated generation of OpenSSH keys, ZFS performance improvements, updated (and more secure) versions of OpenSSH and OpenSSL and hypervisor enhancements.

OpenBSD 5.5 was released May 1, 2014. The theme of the 5.5 release is Wrap in Time, which represents a significant achievement of changing time_t to int64_t on all platforms.

FreeBSD 10.0 has been released. A few highlights include: pkg is now the default package management utility, major enhancements in virtualization, clang is the default compiler and official Raspberry Pi support.

The release of OpenBSD 5.4 brings in new and notable advancements. These include new or extended platforms like octeon and beagle, moving VAX to ELF format, improved hardware support, experimental support for fuse(4), reworked checksum handling for network protocols, OpenSMTPD 5.3.3, OpenSSH 6.3.

DragonFly BSD 3.0 Released

DragonFly BSD has reached release 3.0 which includes improved scalability through finer-grained locking, improvements to the HAMMER file system in low-memory configurations, and a TrueCrypt-compatible disk encryption system.

The release of OpenBSD 4.8 has been announced with the inclusion of many new features as ACPI suspend/resume, better hardware support, OpenBGPD/OpenOSPFD/routing daemon improvements, inclusion of OpenSSH 5.5, etc.

The OpenBSD announced the release of version 4.6. Highlights of the new release include a new privilege-separated smtpd; numerous improvements to packet filtering, software RAID, routing daemons, and the TCP stack; a new installer; and lots more.
